Our mission
Bringing the sangat together in Gurbani
Amrit Ras began in 2026 as a sangat-led samagam in Perth, organised by a team of sewadars with a simple aim: to create a space where families can come together to listen to Gurbani kirtan and katha, share in langar, and serve one another.
Inspired by the response from the sangat, the same team went on to formally establish Amrit Ras Australia later that year as a not-for-profit organisation, so the work can continue and grow with proper governance and accountability.
Amrit Ras Perth 2027 is the team's second Amrit Ras samagam and the first as Amrit Ras Australia: three days of kirtan, katha, langar and sewa. Alongside our own events, we invite respected ragi jathas and kathavachaks to Australia and support Gurdwaras and Sikh institutions in their work.
Amrit Ras is entirely volunteer-led. Every event is made possible by sewadars who give their time for the sangat.
Our purposes
What we are here to do
Our constitution sets out six purposes that guide everything we do.

Advance Sikhi
Advance the Sikh religion in accordance with Gurmat and the Sikh Rehat Maryada.

Kirtan darbars & samagams
Organise kirtan darbars, samagams, Gurmat Sangeet programmes, akhand paaths and other religious events for the sangat.

Host exponents of Gurbani
Invite and host ragi jathas, kathavachaks, dhadi jathas, kavishars and other exponents of Gurbani and Gurmat Sangeet in Australia.

Langar & sewa
Provide and support Guru ka Langar and sewa.
- 05
Education
Advance education in Gurbani, Gurmat Sangeet, Sikh history, Punjabi language and Sikh religious practice.

Support Sikh institutions
Support Gurdwaras and other Sikh religious institutions in these purposes.
